William R. Shirley Sr.

William R. Shirley Sr. of Niles, OH passed away Tuesday February 16th, 2021 at UPMC Hospital in Farrell. He was 77 years old.
William was born June 4th, 1943 to Catherine I. (Wolfe) and George W. Shirley in Foxburg, PA. He was a graduate of Sharpsville High School. William worked for Wild Dunes Golf Course in South Carolina as the maintenance leader. On August 13th, 1963 he married his wife, the late Louella J. (Powers) Shirley who preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. William enjoyed monthly lunches with his high school classmates and in his younger years camping all over the U.S. with his family. He was a skilled woodworker who set up a shop in his garage. William will always be remembered as one of the nicest men you could ever meet and he cared deeply for his family.
William is survived by his children, William Shirley Jr. of Hubbard, OH, Gayle McGivern of Sharon, PA, Greg Shirley of Pikesville, KY, Todd (Mandi) Shirley of Niles, OH, grandchildren, William III, Jay, Robert, Becky, Mat, Casey, Colin, Kim, Dan, Mike, Jeff, Charleigh, Hayli, Mackenzie, Aliya, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Janet Bernard, Joann Blank, Jack Shirley, Linda Brinkley, and Cora Shirley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Louella Shirley, brother, Don Shirley, and daughter, Robin Shirley.
Friends may call Thursday February 25th, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home 124 W. Main St. Sharpsville, PA.
A funeral service will be held Thursday February 25th, 2021 at 3:00 pm in the funeral home.
