William B. Gardner, 82, of 30 Flander Dr. Drums, PA passed away 6:17 pm on November 15, 2013 surrounded by family in the family homestead Transfer, PA, following an extended illness.
He was born on August 22, 1931 to William E. and Martha (Blair) Gardner in Glen Campbell, PA. William worked as a Mechanic for Rowes Auto. William was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy onboard the USS Gilbert Islands. On August 21, 1952 he married the late Eleanor J. Briggs who passed away June 26th, 2005.
William was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Greenville, PA. He is also a member of Sharpsville Masonic Lodge 517 where he was Past Master in 1979, Reynolds VFW Post 7599 where he was a life member, and Freeland American Legion 473. William enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, and time spent with his family.
William is survived by his daughter - Rosanne G. Harakal of Orlando, FL; son - Walter B. (Krista) Gardner of Transfer, PA; 2 sisters - Emma Jean Morrison of Greenville, PA, Jane (Thomas) Jeffries of Renton, WA; 2 brothers – David (Mona Lee) Gardner of Sharpsville, PA, Robert (Sandra) Gardner of Transfer, PA; 6 Grandchildren - Stefanie Cecconi, Charles Harakal, Cyril Harakal, Stanley Harakal, Sean Gardner, and Jessica Mastropietro; 6 great grandchildren; and 25 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, William E. Gardner, mother, Martha Gardner, wife, Eleanor J. Gardner, infant son, William Thomas Gardner, infant son, Richard Edward Gardner, sister, Shirley Voytik, sister, Mary Greer, brother, George "Fred" Gardner, brother, Howard Gardner, and nephew, Billy Gardner.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 18, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 124 Main St. Sharpsville, PA.
Masonic Service will be held at 8:00 pm in the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, 1:00 pm at the St. John’s Lutheran Church Greenville, PA with Rev. Paul Camp, officiating.
Internment will take place in the Transfer Cemetery with full military honors by the Reynolds VFW Post 7599.
