Virginia Rainey Obituary

Virginia Mae Rainey, 89, of Transfer, passed away 4:35 pm on Wednesday May 7, 2014 in her home, suddenly, with family at her side.  
  
She was born on November 6, 1924 to Ralph Glaser and Elizabeth (Urey) Barrett-Winner in Sharon, PA. She graduated from Sharon High School class of 1942. Virginia first worked at Westinghouse during World War II, at Farrell Candies, and most recently as a salesperson for Maxines Fabric in Greenville, PA. On August 17th, 1943 she married the late Walter G. Holmes who passed away September 25th, 1959. July 29, 1961 she married her second husband, the late Dale C. Rainey who passed away November 2nd, 1998.
  
Virginia was a member of the Transfer Baptist Church. She was a member of the Mercer County Genealogy Society, Transfer Garden Club, was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and quilting.
  
Virginia is survived by her 3 daughters - Carolyn McCright of Greenville, PA, Beverly (Tom) Amon of Rocky Face, GA, Janet Stanko of Transfer, PA; son - Allen (Cheryl) Holmes of Sharpsville, PA; step son - William (Jamie) Rainey of Austin, TX; sister - Sandra (Bob) Gardner of Transfer, PA; sister in law - Helen Barrett of New Wilmington, PA; 11 Grandchildren - Brian (Kimberly) McCright, Jason (Bilynda) McCright, Matthew McCright and his partner James Vela-McConnell, Thomas “TJ” Amon, Erica (Lucas) Oxford, Emily Amon, Heather Holmes, Jennifer (Ryan) Sump, Katie Stanko, Rachel Stanko, Juliana Stanko; 5 Great Grandchildren - Christian Amon, Serenity Oxford, Carter Sump, Madison Sump, Evelyn “Evie” McCright.
  
She was preceded in death by father, Ralph Glaser Barrett, mother, Elizabeth Barrett-Winner, husband, Dale C. Rainey, first husband, Walter G. Holmes, sister, Betty Meenihan, brother, William Barrett, son in law, Stanley McCright, and grandson Stephen McCright.
  
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 124 Main St. Sharpsville, PA.
    
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014, 11:00 am at the Transfer Baptist Church, with Pastor John Frey, officiating.
  
Burial will take place in the Westside Cemetery.
  
Memorial contributions may be sent to Transfer Baptist Church Memorial Fund 50 Broad St. Transfer, PA 16154, in memory of Virginia.
