Loving Mother, Wife, and Grandmother
Shirley L. Zimmerman, 88, formerly of Farrell, passed away on Wednesday January 20th, 2016 at John XXIII Nursing Home in Hermitage, PA.
Shirley was born on September 23rd, 1927 to Percy and Grace (Jackson) Davis in Sharpsville, PA. She graduated from Sharpsville High School class of 1945. Shirley worked as a Paycheck Clerk for Shenango Furnace Inc. On July 14th, 1962 she married the late John E. “Hawkins” Zimmerman, who passed away in November of 1994.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church Sharpsville, PA. Shirley was a member of the American Business Women’s Association, volunteered for the Shenango Valley Meals on Wheels, and was a member of the Shenango Valley YMCA where she enjoyed participating in Silver Sneakers. She was loved by all who knew her. Shirley loved taking care of her home, cooking, and particularly her family who she loved dearly.
Shirley is survived by her son - Mark D. “Zim” Zimmerman Sr. and his companion Courtney Dorogi both of Farrell, PA; sister - Dolores Stainbrook of Sharpsville, PA; Colombo Obregon who she thought of as her own son; 5 Grandchildren - Mark D. Zimmerman Jr., Cameron Zimmerman, K'era Zimmerman-Morrison, Takesha (Gary) Thomas, Vanessa Richardson; and great grandchild - Davion Richardson.
She was preceded in death by father, Percy Davis, mother, Grace Davis, husband, John E. Zimmerman, and sister, Nancy Thomas.
Friends may call Monday, January 25th, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 124 Main St. Sharpsville, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25th, 2016, 2:00 pm at the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Sharpsville, PA, with Rev. Mike Carlin, officiating.
Shirley’s family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers at John XXIII Nursing Home for their excellent care.
Burial will take place in the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery.
