Robert J. McDonald

Robert John McDonald Jr., 68 of Mercer, passed away peacefully on March 18th, 2025 in Jameson Nursing & Rehabilitation New Castle, PA.

Robert was born June 6th, 1956 to Cathrine “Kathleen” (O’Neill) and Robert John McDonald Sr. in Sharon, Pa. He was a 1974 graduate of Sharpsville High School and earned his Associates Degree from Penn State University. Robert worked 45 years for the Mercer County Conservation District as a Technician.

He was a longtime member of St. Bartholomew R.C. Church in Sharpsville where he served as usher, volunteered for church events, and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed the outdoors and helping with events at the Munnell Run Farm in Mercer. Robert also enjoyed watching movies, reading, and most importantly spending time with his niece and nephew.

Robert is survived by his sisters, Patricia McDonald, Sally (William II) McDonald-Slattery, Colleen McDonald, niece, Katherine Slattery, nephew, William Slattery III.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Verdie and Raymond J. McDonald.

Friends may call Friday March 21st, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home 124 W. Main St. Sharpsville, PA.

Funeral services will begin at 5:00 pm in the funeral home with Father John Miller officiating.

Burial will take place in Hillcrest Cemetery.
