Richard J. Rice St.

Richard J. Rice Sr., 81, of Sharpsville, passed away 9:50 am on Monday September 21st, 2015 at UPMC Shenango Valley in Farrell, PA.  
  
He was born on February 21st, 1934 to William B. and Mabel G. (Rummel) Rice in Barnesboro, PA. Richard worked as Head Straightener for Sharon Tube, 33 years, until his retirement. He also worked security for years at R.C. Marina.
  
He was a member of the Sharpsville VFW, Sharon Tube Retirees, and enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing euchre, fishing, hunting, camping, and sitting around the fire. Richard liked going on casino trips and following the Steelers, Pirates, and NASCAR. He was also a little league coach in South Pymatuning.
  
Richard is survived by his 2 daughters - Margaret "Peggy" (Emery “Leroy”) Johnson of Transfer, PA and Florida, Leta (Donald “Bud”) Minto of Hermitage, PA; 2 sons - Richard (Rosemary) Rice Jr. of Transfer, PA, David (Francis) Rice of Sharon, PA; former wife - Evelyn Chesmar; companion of 32 years - Jean Byrne of Sharpsville and her family; sister - Patty (Howard) Miller of Brookfield, OH; 2 brothers - Sam Rice of Sharpsville, PA, Francis (Georgiana) Rice of Sharon, PA; 6 Grandchildren - Lisa Gassner, James Minto, Emery Johnson Jr., Richard Rice III, Tabitha Pinch, Tara Rice; also surviving are 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
  
He was preceded in death by father, William B. Rice, mother, Mabel G. Rice, brother, William Rice, brother, Theodore Rice, brother, Charles Rice, great granddaughter, Courtney Rice, and great grandson, Covington Johnson.
  
Friends may call Thursday, September 24th, 2015 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm & Thursday, September 24th, 2015 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 124 Main St. Sharpsville, PA.
    
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 25th, 2015, 11:00 am at the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home Sharpsville, PA, with Pastor Joe Nevin, officiating.
  
Burial will take place in Americas Cemetery Hermitage, PA.
