Rev. John W. “Jack” Stevenson, 85, of Hermitage, passed away on March 14th, 2015 at Nugent Convalescent Home in Hermitage, PA from infirmities.
John was born on August 21st, 1929 to John and Helen (Wise) Stevenson in Blacktown, PA. He was a graduate of Hickory High School, Thiel College, and Union Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. John was a Pastor for 41 years until his retirement in 1993. On August 14th, 1948 he married his wife Helen N. Patton, who survives at home.
He was a minister in Sheakleyville, Centerville, Washington, Sharpsville, and Oil City, PA. John was an avid hunter and enjoyed woodworking.
John is survived by his loving wife Helen, 3 daughters - Norene Stevenson of Hermitage, PA, Esther (John) Fleet of Mercer, PA, Marie (Rick) Schreyer of Williamsburg, VA; 2 sons - Hugh M. (Arleen) Stevenson of Hermitage, PA, John W. Stevenson of Columbus, OH; 2 sisters - Adeline (Robert) Hibshman of New Wilmington, PA, Evelyn Lingner of Raleigh, NC; 5 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by father, John Stevenson, mother, Helen Stevenson, sister, Emma Lockovich, and brother, Edward Stevenson.
Friends may call Tuesday March 17th, 2015 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 124 Main St. Sharpsville, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 18th, 2015 11:00 am at the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Pastor Benjamin Fleet who is his grandson, Paston Hugh Stevenson who is his son, and Pastor Jim Erb co-officiating.
Burial will take place in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
