Phyllis (Malone) Lally

Phyllis (Malone) Lally, 96, passed away January 17th, 2021 at Garden Way Place Hermitage, PA. A longtime resident of Sharpsville, she was born in Struthers, OH November 2nd, 1924 to Mary Ann (Murphy) and Dennis Malone. Phyllis was a graduate of Struthers High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. In 1943 she married her husband Martin “Tino” Lally. Martin, who was an avid golfer, passed away in 1982. Following the death of her husband, Phyllis and her children began the Martin Lally Memorial Golf Outing in his memory which started in 1983.
Phyllis served as the Sharpsville Borough Secretary from 1971 to 1985. She continued her love of golf, working at Birchwood Golf Course following her retirement. In additions to being an avid golfer, Phyllis was also an avid bowler. She always welcomed many to her home on Christmas Eve to enjoy the annual Sharpsville tradition of Santa Claus visiting each home.
She is survived by her children, Tom (Betty) Lally of Sharpsville, Joanne (Mike) Eberhart of Ft Myers, FL, Patricia (William) Chisholm of Slippery Rock, and Margaret (Jan) Datsko of Beckley, WV. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Maureen (Michal) Kondracki, Lora (Jason) Shrock, Marty Lally, Gretchen (Robert) Kolb, Sayra (Jeremy) Bovard, Kristen Chisholm, Megan Datsko, Scott (Jill) Datsko, Jeff (Rachel) Datsko, great grandchildren, Brandon, Nathan, and Leah Kondracki, Emory and Hattie Shrock, Madelvn and Elizabeth Kolb, Noah and Kate Bovard.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband Martin, siblings, Jack Malone and his wife Dorothy, Anna Mary Waters and her husband Bill, Margaret Dyer and her husband Steve, Nancy Hunter and her husband Charles, and by nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Garden Way Place for their care and compassion.
Due to the current pandemic, funeral services will be held privately.
Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery next to her husband.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Buhl Park, St. Bartholomew Church, or Three Rivers Hospice.
