Oscar A. Haspel Jr., 84, of Greenville, passed away peacefully 2:15 am on Tuesday March 31st, 2015 at Whitecliff Nursing Home Greenville, PA.
Oscar was born on October 5th, 1930 to Oscar A. and Kathryn (Coan) Haspel Sr. in Sharon, PA. He graduated from Sharon High School class of 1948. He was a veteran who served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Oscar worked as a Machinist for Sharon Steel until he retired in 1992. On July 7th, 1956 he married his wife Virginia M. Guthrie who survives at home.
He was a member of St. Marks United Church of Christ. Oscar was a member of the Reynolds VFW, Greenville American Legion; he was an avid golfer, loved Dixieland music, and coached Little League and Senior League for 6 years. Most importantly he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and family.
Oscar is survived by his loving wife Virginia, daughter - Rebecca (Scott) Miller of Loveland, OH; 2 sons - Robert J. Haspel of Transfer, PA, Michael P. (Riva) Haspel of Wesley Chapel, FL; 4 Grandchildren - Daniel Miller, Brittany Miller, Nicholas Haspel, Jacob Haspel; 2 step grandchildren - Jessica Zemerick, and Michael Lopez.
He was preceded in death by father, Oscar A. Haspel Sr. and mother, Kathryn Haspel.
Friends may call Friday, April 3rd, 2015 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm at Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 124 Main St. Sharpsville, PA.
Memorial services will be held on Friday April 3rd, 2015 4:30 pm at the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home & Cremation Service Sharpsville, PA with Pastor Glenn E. Sadler, officiating.
Friends may also call until 6:30 pm after the memorial services on Friday.
Burial will take place in the Westside Cemetery.
