Margaret Ann (Black) Ewing, 87, formerly of Sharpsville, passed away peacefully on Monday March 7th, 2016 at St. Paul Homes in Greenville, PA.
Margaret was born on June 13th, 1928 to Lucian C. and Hilda C. (Thomas) Black at home on Iris Brook Farm in Collins, OH. She graduated from New Castle High School class of 1946 and Kent State University class of 1950. Margaret worked as a Teacher for the Sharon School District, primarily in the Home Economics Department. On August 16th, 1952 she married her husband, the late William Murchie Ewing Jr. who passed away June 15th, 1961.
She was a 50 plus year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sharon, PA where she taught Bible study for Wishart Circle and served many church functions including Deacon and Elder. Margaret was also a member of the Shenango Valley College Club, Rainbow Girls #1 in New Castle, PA, Wimodausis, and spent time with retired teacher friends. She enjoyed family vacations to Lakeside Ohio. Most important to Margaret was spending time with and taking care of her family.
Margaret is survived by her two daughters - Mary E. (Rev. Charles) Crane of Grove City, PA, Linda R. (Timothy) Dausch of Stamford, CT; son - Robert Murchie (Anita M.) Ewing of Charlotte, NC; brother – Captain Richard D. (Marjorie) Black, Chaplain Corps, U.S.N. (Ret.) of Winter Park, FL; sister-in-law Patricia A. Black of Normal, IL; four Grandchildren - Matthew (Lindsay) Dausch, Meredith (Colin) Selbo, Sharon E. Crane, Hannah E. Crane, step grandchild Amy (David) Doering, and step grandchild Richard Jones. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by father, Lucian C. Black, mother, Hilda C. Black, husband, William Murchie Ewing Jr., brother, William T. Black, father-in-law William Murchie Ewing Sr., and mother-in-law Lila L. Ewing.
Friends may call Friday, March 11th, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 124 Main St. Sharpsville, PA & Saturday, March 12th, 2016 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Willson Parlor in the First Presbyterian Church of Sharon 600 East State Street Sharon, PA 16146.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 12th, 2016, 1:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Sharon with Rev. Dr. Glenn Hink, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church of Sharon 600 East State Street Sharon, PA 16146, the First Presbyterian Church of Sharon Backpack Program, or to the charity of donors’ choice, in memory of Margaret.
Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
