Joseph Walko Obituary

Joseph Walko, 90, of Sharpsville, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2013 at 10:30 pm, in Nugents Convalescent Home after an extend illness.

Joseph was born on March 3, 1923 to Andrew and Mary (Kraynak) Walko in Sharon, PA. Joseph worked as a Foreman for Shenango Inc. for 42 years until his retirement in 1983. Joseph served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On May 21, 1955 he married Eugenia R. Reynolds.
Joseph was a member of the Russian Club, the Sharpsville VFW and American Legion, was an officer at St. John’s Orthodox Church, was a board member at the St. John’s Orthodox Church, and was involved with pierogi sales at St. John’s Orthodox Church. He was an avid Sharpsville fan, an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he enjoyed time at Eat N Park after church, enjoyed the Straussmyers picnic grounds, enjoyed bus trips to gamble, he  traveled everywhere with his parents and family, enjoyed going to Lock Stock and Barrel, he also took his father and relatives every election day, and was an die-hard Democrat.
  
Joseph is survived by 2 sons - Kevin A. Walko Sr. of Sharpsville, PA, Mark J. Walko of Chicago, IL; sister - Kathryn E. Zickar of Hermitage, PA; and grandson - Kevin A. Walko Jr. of Sharpsville, PA .
He was preceded in death by his loving spouse Eugenia  “ Ruth” Walko, father, Andrew Walko, mother, Mary (Kraynak) Walko , brother, Mike Walko, and sisters, Mary, Martha, and Helen.  

Visitation will be held Friday, July 26, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home, 124 Main Street, Sharpsville, PA.

Panachida will be held at 7:45 pm on Friday July 26th in the funeral home.

Full military honors will be held at 11:00 am prior to the funeral service, on Saturday July 27th, 2013 at St. John’s Orthodox Church in Hermitage, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013, following military honors, at the St. John’s Orthodox Church with Father David, officiating, assisted by Father Michael Polanichka.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. John’s Orthodox Church Building Fund.
Burial will take place in the St. John’s Orthodox Cemetery.
