Joseph Trapasso Obituary

Joseph Paul Trapasso passed away peacefully on September 18th, 2018 at St. Paul Homes in Greenville, PA.
He was born April 5th, 1928 in Jefferson Township, Mercer County, PA to Joseph and Merle (Hassel) Trapasso. He graduated from Hickory High School class of 1945.
Joseph served as a Motor Pool Sergeant during the Korean War. He served honorably in Battery C 229th FA Battalion and received a letter of merit from his commanding officer.
He was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 41 years until his retirement in 1984 as a Group Leader in his department. Joseph was also a self-employed farmer, on his family farm, which was designated a Pennsylvania Century Farm, having been in continuous family ownership since 1867. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farmers Association, serving on the legislative and membership committees.
He was also a 71 year member of faith Presbyterian Church, serving as a trustee, greeter, and usher. Joseph was a lifetime member of the American Legion Sharon Post 299, lifetime member of the Greenville VFW Post #3374, Westinghouse Retirees Association, National Rifle Association, Past member of Jefferson Township Civic League, past president of Hickory Hill Cemetery Association where he helped restore the cemetery, and a regular blood donor at Christian Alliance Church in Greenville.
He is survived by his wife Gloria A. (Knapp) Trapasso whom he married February 14th, 1977, nephew John J. (Debbie) Trapasso, grandnieces and grand nephews.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John Hassel Trapasso, sister Helen Theresa Harrison, and brother in law, Gordon W. Harrison.
As per his request, there will be no calling hours or services, flowers, or contributions.

Burial will take place in Americas Cemetery
