Jennie Marie Styduhar
Jennie Styduhar was born March 4, 1921 in Tominje, Italy (now Slovenia) to John and Pauline (Kosanic) Cetin who immigrated to the United States when she was a young girl. She resided in the Shenango Valley since 1926. She was a 1939 graduate of Hickory High School. Upon graduation from the Shenango Valley Business Institute in 1940, she was employed as a Dictaphone typist at Westinghouse Transformer Division in Sharon, Pa. She also worked as a Ward Secretary at Sharon General Hospital where she later served as a volunteer.
Mrs. Styduhar was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and a past member of the Ladies’ Guild. Jennie was a long-time member of the Slovenian National Benefit Society (SNPJ) Lodge 31 of Sharon, Pa. Mrs. Styduhar believed that her most important responsibility was that of homemaker, raising six children, and stressing to them the importance of higher education.
Mrs. Styduhar was married to Edward A. Styduhar from January 31, 1942 until his death on November 2, 1998. Mrs. Styduhar is survived by five sons and one daughter: Dr. Edward Styduhar, Jr. and wife Judith of College Station, TX; Daniel Styduhar and wife Olivia of Brookfield, OH; Robert Styduhar of Parrish, FL; Janet Hugo and husband Doug, of Chesterfield, VA; John Styduhar of Hermitage, PA; and Mark Styduhar and wife Elise Cleary of Hinesburg, VT. Other survivors include nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a brother, Dr. John Cetin and wife Suzanne.
Mrs. Styduhar is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Pauline.
Services are private to be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
