James L. Lawton, 83 of Sharpsville passed away peacefully on May 20th, 2021 in UPMC Shadyside Hospital Pittsburgh, PA.
James was born June 27th, 1937 in Sharpsville to Thelma M. (Reichart) and Leonard H. Lawton. He graduated from Sharpsville High School, class of 1955 and also graduated from the Shenango Valley Commercial Institute Inc. in 1959. James retired from the Sharon Herald after 44 years of service, during which time he worked in the mail room and later in the maintenance department.
He was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sharpsville. James served on the board of deacons, trustees, session, and was the treasurer for their Sunday school program 40 years. James was a member of Sharpsville Lodge 517 Free and Accepted Masons. He enjoyed various hobbies and loved historical places, history, and traveling. He has traveled throughout the United States, Alaska, Canada, and Europe.
James was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call Monday May 24th, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home 124 W. Main St. Sharpsville, PA.
Funeral services will be held Monday May 24th, 2021 at 6:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Mike Carlin, officiating.
Burial will take place in Americas Cemetery.
