James F. Crawford, 95, of Sharpsville, passed away of natural causes on Monday April 4th, 2016 in St. Mary’s Hospice House Watkinsville, GA.
He was born on December 9th, 1920 to Frederick G. and Grace (Davis) Crawford in Sharon, PA. He was a veteran, who served during World War II in the U.S. Navy as a submarine tender in the Pacific Theatre. James worked on the Sub Station Crew for Penn Power, 35 years, until his retirement in 1983. In October of 1995 he married his wife Dorothy (McCann) Crawford who survives at home.
James was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sharpsville, PA, where he served as an Elder. He was a Boy Scout Master for 25 years in Troop #31, and a member of the Western Reserve Fish and Game Protective Association. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling to his camp in Tionesta, woodcarving, and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren.
James is survived by his wife Dorothy Crawford, daughters, Ellen R. (Kenneth) Dummett of Grove City, PA, Arlene (John) Doran of Somis, CA, sons, Richard (Victoria) Crawford of Cortland, OH, James F. (Carol) Crawford II of Macomb, MI. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, William Crawford, Krista Crawford, Barbara (Mike) Moon, Katherine (Chad) Groves, and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by father, Frederick G. Crawford, mother, Grace Crawford and his former wife Lois Crawford, who passed away in October of 1990.
Friends may call Saturday, April 9th, 2016, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 124 Main St. Sharpsville, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 9th, 2016, 3:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Sharpsville with Rev. Mike Carlin, pastor, officiating. Full military honors will be offered at the church.
Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
