Helen Bayer Shedden, 101, of Sharon, passed away peacefully following a brief illness 5:30 pm on April 28, 2013 in Clepper Manor Sharon, PA.
Helen was born on July 23, 1911 to Anton and Katherine (Slana) Bayer in Gary, IN. She graduated from Sharon High School class of 1928. Helen worked as a Secretary for Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sharon, PA. On December 24th, 1942 she married the late Arthur Shedden who passed away June, 30th, 1987.
She worked as a Secretary for Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sharon, PA for 20 years. Previous she worked as a bookkeeper for Routmans. Helen taught reading at the Shenango Valley Community Library, was an excellent seamstress creating gifts for many. Helen had a strong faith and prayed for many people, she was known to those around her as “Grandma Shedden”.
Helen is survived by her daughter - Arleen (Rev. Hugh M.) Stevenson of Hermitage, PA; son ; 2 grandsons.
She was preceded in death by father, Anton Bayer, mother, Katherine Bayer, husband, Arthur H. Shedden, brother, Carl Bayer, brother, Eugene Bayer, and brother, Albert Bayer.
Visitation will be held Wednesday April 1st, 2013 from 3:30pm to 4:00 pm at Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home, 124 Main St. Sharpsville, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, 4:00 pm at the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home, Sharpsville, PA, with Rev. Hugh M. Stevenson, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Following services at the funeral home, friends and family are welcomed to Arleen and Hugh’s home for refreshments and fellowship.
