Darrell J. McCullough, 98, of Greenville, passed away following a brief illness 10:40 pm on February 13, 2013 at White Cliff Nursing Home Greenville, PA.
Darrell was born on March 16, 1914 to Edwin and Clara Belle (Jennings) McCullough in Charleston, PA. Darrell worked as a Craneman for Greenville Steel Car where he retired after 28 years. He was also the owner/operator of DJ McCullough Water Well Drilling. On February 28, 1942 he married the late Virginia Moyer who passed away January 13th, 2004.
Darrell was a member of the Mercer County Antique Power Association. He enjoyed buying and restoring antique gas engines and old tractors, attending gas and steam engine shows, making replica wooden butter churns and butter paddles, making wooden treadmills, and in his younger years dancing. Most importantly to Darrell was spending time with family and friends.
Darrell is survived by his 2 daughters - Shirley A. (Arthur) Rickert of Transfer, PA, Beverly “Becky” A. McCullough of Transfer, PA; son - Robert L. McCullough of Transfer, PA; 2 sister in laws - Martha Moyer of Hadley, PA, Elsie Gray of Troutman, NC; 2 Grandchildren - William “Bill” (Paula) Rickert, Shelley (Shannon) Brightbill; 4 Great-Grandchildren - Logan Rickert, Cole Rickert, Connor Brightbill, and Morgan Brightbill also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, Edwin F. McCullough, mother, Clara Belle McCullough, wife, Virginia V. McCullough, brother, Francis J. McCullough, twin sister, Dorothy Deal, sister, Rose Minnick, and sister, Bess Buchy.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 17, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home, 124 Main St. Sharpsville, PA. Visitation will also be held on Monday, February 18th, 2013 from 10am to 11am in the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 18, 2013, 11:00 am at the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home, Sharpsville, PA, with Pastor Jeff Harter, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Rickert Cemetery Transfer, PA.
