Anthony "Tony" DeAngelis, 92, of Sharpsville, passed away 6:00 am on October 25, 2012 in Nugent Convalescent Home Hermitage, PA.
He was born on October 3, 1920 to Rocco and Giuseppina (Canesani) DeAngelis in Castro dei Volsci, Italy. He then came to the United States and in June of 1938 settled in Sharpsville, PA. Tony worked for Shenango Inc. 1940 to 1942 before proudly serving as a Corporal in the U.S. Army from June 1942 until November 9th, 1945. He was stationed the majority of his service in the Aleutian Islands, AK with the Engineering division which was in charge of building roads and airstrips after the Japanese left Atu. He returned to Shenango Inc. in 1945. He worked as a General Foreman in the Chipping Department until his retirement in 1983. On June 19, 1946 he married his wife Rose (Caracci) DeAngelis who survives at home.
Tony was a lifelong member of St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church Sharpsville, PA. He was an active and founding member of the Sharpsville Beagle Club in Mercer, PA from 1949 to present and the Volant Beagle Club Volant, PA. He was a charter member of the Sharpsville V.F.W. Post 6404 as well as the Sharpsville Italian Home and Loyal Order of the Moose, Mercer Division 1637. He loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener.
Tony is survived by his loving spouse Rose, 2 daughters - Mary Wildman of Sharon, PA, Patricia (Jeffery) Haskell of Concord, OH; son - Michael Anthony (Wendy) DeAngelis of Champion, OH sister - Yolanda DeAngelis of Sharpsville, PA; 2 granddaughters - Lisa (James) Ashton of Brookfield, OH, Anna Rose DeAngelis of Champion, OH; 2 grandsons - Brian (Eileen) Wildman of Sharpsville, PA, Mark DeAngelis of Champion, OH; great-granddaughter - Serena Wildman of Sharpsville, PA also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, Rocco DeAngelis and mother, Giuseppina DeAngelis.
Most importantly Tony loved and lived for his family: his parents, wife, children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. He was a kind, loving, and adoring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Visitation will be held Sunday October 28th 2012 1 pm to 4 pm in Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home, 124 Main St. Sharpsville, PA.
Mass will be held in St. Rose Cemetery Chapel Monday October 29th, 2012 11:00 am with Father Marc Stockton, St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Rose Cemetery Hermitage, PA with full military honors.
