Alma Urmson Obituary

Alma Luceille (Moon) Urmson, 88, of Transfer, passed away peacefully on Friday July 19th, 2019 at UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh, PA.  
  
Alma was born on September 12th, 1930 to John and Alma (Rawson) Moon at home in Jackson Center, PA. She attended school at the 2 room school house in Jackson Center. She graduated from Mercer High School class of 1948 and from Mercer County Vocational School in 1980. Alma worked for Bell Telephone for 8 years as an operator and as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Greenville Hospital, UPMC Horizon 14 years. On November 28th, 1953 she married her husband, the late William Thomas “Bill” Urmson who passed away August 15th, 2001.
  
She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Hermitage, PA for over 50 years. Alma was also a member of Saddle Mates Saddle Club in Transfer. She sold eggs and enjoyed gardening on the family farm where she also sold homemade decorated cakes for all occasions. She would participate in a variety of crafts including: leather work; knitting; crocheting baby clothing, sweaters, vests, blankets, and handmade family quilts. After her retirement she volunteered in the outpatient surgery department of UPMC Horizon. Alma liked going on short travel trips with OD Anderson Bus Company.
  
Alma is survived by her daughter, Luceille A. Urmson of Penn Hills, PA, sons, William T. (Phyllis) Urmson Jr. of Valencia, PA, John R. (Kathy) Urmson of Cuba, NY, Ronald E. (Laura) Urmson of East Aurora, NY, 6 grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Casey, Elizabeth, Brooke, and Tyler. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Raymond L. (Vivian) Moon of Mercer, PA and James R. (Penny) Moon of Rostravor, PA.  
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William Thomas Urmson, brother, Paul R. Moon, 5 half-sisters, and 6 half-brothers.
    
Memorial services will be held on Saturday August 10th, 2019 at 10:00 am in Faith Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bruce A. Richael of Love Christian Center Farrell, PA, officiating.
  
Burial has taken place in Americas Cemetery.
