John T. Alfredo, 88, of Sharpsville, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Sharon Regional Hospital.  
  
John was born on February 16, 1930 to John and Lucy (Stawsky) Alfredo in Sharpsville, PA. He attended Sharpsville Area School District. He served in the United States Army as an armorer during the Korean War era and was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal.
On July 7, 1951 he married his beloved wife, the late Myrtle “Myrt” Dilley, who passed away on May 8, 2014.

John worked as a moulder at Shenango Inc. for over 45 years and served as union president of United Steel Workers Local 1032, and on the board of directors of Mercer County Labor Council AFL-CIO. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Church in Sharpsville. During the 1960s John was a member of the Sharpsville Borough Council and also served as president. He was an avid sports fan, coached little league baseball, and was an umpire for many years. In his spare time he loved to hunt and fish, especially at his camp in Kane, PA where he enjoyed the outdoors and sharing time with his sons.

John is survived by two sons, John Paul Alfredo and his wife Georgieanna of Sharpsville, PA; David Alfredo and his wife Barbara of Cranberry Township, PA; a daughter, Judy Onestak and her husband David of Bridgewater, VA; seven grandchildren, John David Alfredo and his wife Mandy of Sharpsville, PA; Edward Alfredo and his wife Tulip of Sharpsville, PA; Brooke Quinn and her husband Richard of Woodbridge, NJ;  Maria Drogell and her husband Brian of Medina, OH; Bryan Alfredo and his wife Lisa of Ashburn, VA; and Lauren Onestak and Brandon Onestak, both of Bridgewater, VA. Also surviving are twelve great-grandchildren, John Carlo Alfredo, Domenic Alfredo, Luca Alfredo, Gina Alfredo, Joseph Alfredo, Aris Alfredo, Carmen Alfredo, Ava Renee Alfredo, Mila Barbara Alfredo, Brayden Henry Drogell, Olivia Mae Drogell, and Daniel “Harry” Quinn; as well as a brother, Stan Alfredo of Hermitage; and two sisters, Virginia Sebestyen of Hermitage and Mary Ellen Osborne of Fredonia.
  
Besides his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by a grandson, George Alfredo; and five siblings, William Alfredo, Soccy Alfredo, Edward Alfredo, Josephine Euard and Mae Bakmaz.

Friends may call Tuesday, January 29, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 124 Main St., Sharpsville, PA.  
  
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at 10:30 am at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, Sharpsville, PA, with Father Matt Strickenberger officiating. Friends are welcome to meet directly at the church.

Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Bartholomew Church, 311 W. Ridge Ave., Sharpsville, PA 16150, “In Memory of John Alfredo.”

To our dear friends...we were so sorry to hear of your father passing. As you grieve the lose of him here on Earth...may you have comfort in knowing that he is now with our loving Lord in Heaven. I hope the beautiful memories of times together at your cabin... and holidays and dinners together...with laughter and good conversation; bring comfort in what he gave you both and your families that will live on in ALL of you....in loving memory of your father.
