William “Bill” Fisher Jr. (formerly of Transfer) passed away peacefully February 7th, 2015 at Trinity Living Center in Grove City, PA with his wife and daughter by his side. God called him home after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease and Leukemia.

Bill was born into the Amish tradition on October 10th, 1937 to William and Emma (Wengard) Fisher, one of ten children. After leaving the Amish tradition, Bill joined the U.S. Army where he served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He married Kathlene Snodgrass October 2nd, 1965, who survives at home.

Bill was a family man who was always there for his family. He enjoyed family trips and was always willing to try something new. He was exceedingly patient with his children, always willing to teach, guide, and help.

Well known for his carpentry skills, he built over 400 homes in Mercer County while working for Byler Construction as a foreman. A hardworking man, Bill built the family home in Transfer during the evenings after putting in a full day’s work building homes for others. Even after his retirement at age 62, Bill continued to do odd jobs for family and friends. Not one to be idle, he ran the small family farm owned by the late Everett and Betty Snodgrass until his Alzheimer’s progressed.

He was a founding member of Lakeside Evangelical Church in Transfer, PA where he was a trustee and usher for many years. Bill assisted in the construction of the church building and its picnic pavilion.
William is survived by his loving wife Kathlene, daughter - Carol (Keith) Peterson of Erie, PA; son - Gary (Sarah) Fisher of Transfer, PA; brothers - Enos Fisher of Greenville, PA, Lester (Clara) Fisher of Middlefield, OH, Harvey (Martha) Fisher, Neal Fisher; brother in law Dan Miller, sister in laws, Ada Fisher and Laura Fisher, and Faye Bowen of Mercer, PA; 3 Grandchildren - Derek Fisher, Lucas Peterson, and Owen Peterson.
He was preceded in death by father, William Fisher Sr., mother, Emma Fisher, sister, Malinda Miller, brother Henry Fisher, brother, Eli Fisher, brother, Mahlon Fisher, and brother, Sam Fisher.
Friends may call Tuesday February 10th, 2015 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home, & Cremation Service 124 Main St. Sharpsville, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 11th, 2015 at 11:00 am in Lakeside Evangelical Church with Pastor Robert Mavis, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Hadley Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Lakeside Evangelical Church 3203 N. Hermitage Rd. Transfer, PA 16154 or the Alzheimer’s Association 1100 Liberty Ave. Suite E-201 Pittsburgh, PA 15222, in memory of William.

I am sorry to read of Bill's passing. Bill and his crew built our family home in Grove City in 1974. It was our first home and we wanted it to be just right. And I remember how accomodating Bill was. Bill was an excellant craftsman, but more importantly he was a friendly cheerful person in whose company I always enjoyed. Years later I would enjoy Bill stopping by the WFMJ tent to visit. He never seemed to age. I would recognize that smile anywhere. When I didn't see him last year, I feared that his health had failed. Bill was a fine man and I will miss him.

So sorry to hear about Bill's death. I worked with Kathy at Werner & Bill & Kathy were my neighbors for 9 years when I rented an apartment across the road from them. Small world now some 20 years later I drive school bus & their grandson rides my bus. Such nice people & family. Prayers to the entire family - may Bill rest in peace.
