Mary B. Vodenichar - Mary was a loving, devoted mother and grandmother.

Mary Vodenichar of 299 ½ Vine Ave. Sharon passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday February 16th, 2012 from natural causes. She was 72.

Mary was born on February 2nd, 1940 in Mercer PA, to Milton E. and Helen M. (Cameron) Davis.
She graduated from Sharpsville High School, class of 1958. Mary was of Methodist faith.

For 21 years Mary stayed at home raising her three daughters. She also worked for Sharon Tube, Chums Restaurant and Banquet Center, and UPMC Farrell’s Dietary Department from which she retired in 2002. Once she retired she became a member and manager of the Sons of Italy in Sharon, where many members knew her as Aunt Mary. This is also where you could find her weekly, playing Bocce as Captain of “Team 1”.

Mary was a fixture at every field and gymnasium from Sharpsville to West Middlesex that involved her daughters and her grandchildren. She was everyone’s #1 fan. She also enjoyed reading, swimming, fishing, and her yearly vacations with her family. After her retirement she also enjoyed catering on the weekends with her good friend Rita.

A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary loved her family dearly. Her grandchildren, as well as everyone who knew her, will miss her quick wit, infectious smile, and her colorful sense of humor.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Mary Jo (Jack) Staunch of West Middlesex, PA; Lori (Brian) Ellison of Sharpsville, PA; Amy (Keith) Sloan of Sharpsville, PA; 8 grandchildren, Amanda (Randy) Auman, Brian Ellison, Anthony, Eric, and Madison Sloan; Trey, Allie, and Chase Staunch; 2 great-grandchildren, Kendall and Avery Auman. It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Mary. In the 20 years that I have known Mary- never came a time when she was not there. She was a beautiful person, so loving and caring to all those around her. She was the very proudest of her family and adored and supported them completely. She enjoyed wearing the picture buttons of her grandchildren for the appropriate sporting seasons - proudly supporting them.

Mary was always happy, always smiling and always interested in how everyone else was doing. She was a confidant, a great listener, a straightforward and no BS advice giver and a special and dear friend. To many - she was more than a friend, she was family. Julie and I are joined by so many people that suffered a great loss by Mary's passing, and we will keep all those friends and family members in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Our deepest condolences to her family and all those who loved her.

Rest in Peace Mary! We loved you so very much and we miss you.

Dear Mary Jo, Amy and family,

It was with great sadness that I learned of your mom''s passing. I am in Florida for the winter, but keep up with The Herald online. Following all of your activities and now, her grandchildren certainly kept her busy. I know that she will be missed by all.

Please know that I am thinking of all of you at this time. I know how difficult it is to lose a loved one. I am still adjusting to life without my parents.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you move through these next days. May your many wonderful memories of her be of comfort to you.

With sincere sympathy,
Sue McLaughlin

May you be comforted in knowing how many people she touched! Two are gone from the Fab Four (Brown, Mohney, Vodenichar and Walker). I love Mary Belle like a mother. All four of these ladies were and are the best! Spent every summer weekend together and Bob too! I sure do miss those days and I am thankful everyday that I grew up with all of you!

Love Mary Lynne
