John J. “Jack” Kocis, 85, passed away peacefully on April 22nd, 2024 in Concord Care Center, Fowler, OH.
Jack was born August 26th, 1938 to Anna M. (Uhrin) and John George Kocis in Farrell, PA. He was a graduate of Farrell High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University in metallurgy. During his college years he participated in ROTC. Jack worked for Sharon Steel as a metallurgist for 30 years. He also worked for Greer Steel in Dover, Oh for 5 years. On May 4th, 1963 he married his wife, the late Sally Veva (Rapp) Kocis who passed away December 6th, 2015.
Jack was a member of St. Bartholomew R.C. Church in Sharpsville where he was active in the Holy Name Society, served as eucharistic minister, and as a reader during mass. In retirement he worked for Shenango Lakes Golf Course. Jack loved to play golf and did so in a couple leagues including Yankee Lake. Jack was always active enjoying the outdoors, hunting, playing softball, cutting trees with his sons, and always helping friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Marie Kocis of Farrell, PA, sons, Christopher John Kocis of Sharpsville, Tim C. Kocis and his companion Joanne Hoffman of Masury, OH, Andrew (Patti) Kocis of Sharpsville, 4 granddaughters who were his “sweethearts”, Emily (Jared) Neal, Paige (Wyatt) Barnum, Sarah (Patrick) Herrmann, Rachel (Michael) Kocis, 3 great grandsons and 1 on the way, brothers, Joseph Francis (Rosalie) Kocis, Albert “Butch” Kocis, and brother-in-law, Ben Addison.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sally V. Kocis, and sister, Eleanor Addison.
Friends may call Friday April 26th, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Donaldson-Mohney Funeral Home 124 W. Main St. Sharpsville, PA 16150.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 27th, 2024 at 10:00 am in the funeral home with Father Richard Allen, officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Rose Cemetery Hermitage, PA
